Location and Classification
Köhler is an officially designated single vineyard in the Weinpanorama Steigerwald area within the Franconian wine-growing region with a protected designation of origin. The site is assigned to the municipality of Dingolshausen and is located at the foot of the Steigerwald Nature Park.
Climate and Soils
The vineyards are shaped by the continental climate of Franconia. For the Dingolshäuser wine site, gips marl (Gipskeuper) and clayey, loamy soils are listed.
Aspect and Grape Varieties
The rows of vines at Köhler face south and west and reach lengths of up to about 200 metres. Müller-Thurgau is documented in a wine with the designation Dingolshäuser Köhler.
Name and Cultivation
According to a local tradition, the name Köhler is linked to a cooper; the associated old field is regarded in this legend as an early vineyard area in Dingolshausen. The Loos winery documents organic winegrowing for its vineyards, including predominantly vine areas based on Köhler.
