Origin and History
The Weingut Gert Aldinger is located in Fellbach in the Württemberg region in Germany. The family’s viticulture dates back to Fellbach as far as 1492. In 1955, Gerhard Aldinger converted his father-in-law’s coopering into a winery.
Vineyards and Grape Varieties
The estate currently cultivates 35.60 hectares of vineyard area. The planting consists mainly of Riesling, Lemberger and Spätburgunder as well as Chardonnay, Weissburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc, Trollinger, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Meunier. According to the winery, Riesling, Spätburgunder and Lemberger in particular clearly show the differences between the sites.
The geological formations include gypsum Keuper, stubensandstone and colourful marl. The Untertürkheimer Gips lies at the foot of the Stuttgarter Basin and has gypsum-containing gypsum Keuper soils. The Hanweiler Maien is cooler than the neighbouring Hanweiler Berg and is suitable for Silvaner and Sauvignon Blanc. Depending on the site, grape variety and year’s conditions, the vines are cut and cultivated individually.
Winemaking
The estate focuses on regional origins and traditional winemaking. The wines are shaped by soil, local climate and vineyard location. The Fellbacher Lämmler Riesling Kabinett is fermented and matured in stainless-steel tanks.
The 2023 vintage of the Fellbacher Lämmler Lemberger VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS was fermented with a long maceration period in French wooden fermenters and with 60 percent whole berries. Afterwards, it matured for 17 months in barriques, of which 40 percent were in new barrels. The cuvée of gypsum Keuper Chardonnay and Weissburgunder ferments spontaneously in French wooden vessels, matures for 18 months on full lees in French oak and is bottled unfiltered.

The winery has been a member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter since 1994. The classified sites include vineyards of VDP.GROSSE LAGE and VDP.ERSTE LAGE.
