Champagne Lamiable in Tours-sur-Marne

Champagne Lamiable is a family-run Champagne house in Tours-sur-Marne, a Grand Cru village in the Champagne in France. The Lapie-Lamiable family has been involved in viticulture for three generations. Tours-sur-Marne is considered the cradle of the house; the first plot was planted at the lieu-dit Les Vignes des Meslaines.

Vineyard holdings and viticulture

The vineyards are located mainly in the Grand Cru areas of Tours-sur-Marne and Bouzy, as well as in the Premier Cru area of Billy-le-Grand. Tours-sur-Marne is associated with the Montagne de Reims, a limestone massif with chalky soils and varying exposures. The main grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Two of the house’s vineyard holdings are certified in accordance with Viticulture Durable en Champagne and Haute Valeur Environnementale.

Cuvées and ageing

Terre d'étoiles is the house’s historic cuvée and a Grand Cru Brut made from 60 % Pinot Noir and 40 % Chardonnay. It contains 40 % reserve wines from a Perpetual Reserve and matures for 20 to 30 months on the lees in the house’s vaulted cellar. The range also includes Extra Brut, Brut Nature, Rosé Brut, Blanc de Noirs, Blanc de Blancs and vintage cuvées.

Special ageing methods

The Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Lisette & Bayard was fermented and aged in old oak barrels; the cuvée listed matured for 18 months in cask. The Grand Cru vintage cuvée Héliades was partly vinified in oak barrels. The wines are presented under the Champagne appellation with Grand Cru and Premier Cru designations, according to the respective vineyard sites.
