Champagne Henriot in Reims
Champagne Henriot is located at 81 rue Coquebert in Reims, in the region Champagne in France. Apolline Henriot founded the house in 1808 in Reims.
Historic vineyards
In 1880, the Chardonnay vineyards of the Côte des Blancs were expanded through the marriage of Paul Henriot and Marie Marguet, incorporating vineyard holdings previously shaped by Pinot Noir vines in the Montagne de Reims. The historic vineyards are connected to both sectors. Among the six Grands Crus of the original founding are Verzy, Verzenay and Mailly-Champagne in the Montagne de Reims, as well as Avize, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs.
Soils and grape varieties
Since 1920, Champagne Henriot has been investigating the soils of the vineyards using soil profile studies. Since 2020, the Alliance Terroirs project has coordinated analyses of the terroirs and the adaptation of viticulture practices for the sustainability of vines and the environment. The wines are made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.
Cuvées and ageing
The Brut Souverain is made up of about 50 % Pinot Noir, 45 % Chardonnay and 5 % Meunier, contains about 30 to 50 % reserve wines and matures for at least three years. The Blanc de Blancs is produced from 100 % Chardonnay, also contains about 30 to 50 % reserve wines and matures for at least three years. L’Inattendue 2018 is a vintage wine made from 100 % Chardonnay from Chouilly. The Hemera 2008 and the Cuvée des Enchanteleurs 2015 are vintage cuvées from the six Grands Crus; both blend Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in equal parts, with the Cuvée des Enchanteleurs only produced in selected exceptional years and matured on the lees for at least ten years.
