Champagne Barons de Rothschild

Champagne Barons de Rothschild is based in Reims in Champagne, France. The House was founded in 2005 through a joint project by three branches of the Rothschild family.

The main vineyard sources are located on the Côte des Blancs and on the Montagne de Reims, supplemented by the Vallée de la Marne. The House owns eight hectares of vineyard land, seven hectares of which are on the Côte des Blancs, and also works with around 20 partner winemakers across a total of about 85 hectares of cultivated area. Vine cultivation is referred to as “culture raisonnée”; supply consists almost entirely of parcels designated as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.

Chardonnay accounts for more than 70 percent of grape supply and, depending on the cuvée, forms 50 to 100 percent of the blend. Documented cuvées use Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Concordia Brut is made up of 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir, the standard Rosé of 94 percent Chardonnay and six percent Pinot-Noir-Rotwein.

The grapes are selected by parcel, and selected terroirs are vinified separately. The white base wines mature, depending on the cuvée, in different vessels. The vintage and reserve practice includes, for non-vintage cuvées, more than 40 percent reserve wines, most of which are managed in a perpetual reserve system.

Bottle aging lasts around four to more than ten years, followed by at least six months of rest after disgorgement; for some cuvées, this phase lasts up to a year. Dosage, as stated by the House, ranges between 0 and 6 g/l and extends from Brut Nature to the lower Extra-Brut levels.

The site in Oger, operating since 2024, is used for aging on the lees, riddling, disgorging, labeling and dispatch. The facility is partially built into chalk to create cool, dark cellar conditions. The winery in Vertus, inaugurated in 2025, brings together wine-making from must reception to bottling and uses stainless steel, wood and concrete vessels for separate vinification by parcel.
