Location and classification
Silberquell refers to the single vineyard Impfinger Silberquell in the Impfingen district of Tauberbischofsheim in Baden. It belongs to the wine-growing region of Tauberfranken and the large-scale vineyard Tauberklinge.
Topography and origin of the name
The vineyard site lies on the south-facing slope of the Hunsenberg near Impfingen. The name is derived from the Silberbrünnle, a spring in the Tannenwald forest district about 700 metres west of the site.
Soils and climate
Shell limestone soils are given for the vineyard plots in Impfinger Silberquell. The Taubertal valley associated with the plots is described as being characterised by cool conditions.
Grape varieties and wines
Documented bottlings from Impfinger Silberquell include dry and semi-dry Blanc de Noir from Schwarzriesling, dry Schwarzriesling rosé, dry Spätburgunder as well as a Trollinger-Lemberger as a Taubertal country wine. The grapes from the Winzerhof Wille are picked by hand; only sound, fully ripe grapes are processed. For the Blanc de Noir, a gentle whole-bunch pressing of the Schwarzriesling is documented.
