Site
The Schlossberg is referred to on site as Bürger Schlossberg and is located in the Bürg, a district of Winnenden in Württemberg. The vineyard includes terraced plots below the Panoramaweg on Bürger Schlossberg.
History and development
Viticulture on Bürger Schlossberg has been documented since the 14th century; for the year 1333 there is a specific local reference. In December 1996, a land consolidation and redevelopment project was ordered. This included the merging of plots, terrain modelling, the construction of access roads and the redesign for direct mechanised cultivation. The technical completion was reported in December 2012.
Grape varieties
A documented plot measuring 0.60 hectares was planted in 2002, following the reorganisation of the vineyard, with Trollinger, Lemberger, Zweigelt, Spätburgunder, Riesling and Kerner.
Wines and vinification
Documented are dry Lemberger from wooden casks, dry Trollinger, Trollinger-Lemberger red wine and rosé wine. Wines bearing the designation Bürger Schlossberg are also classified as quality wine from specified growing areas (QbA). In a documented estate, the grapes are pressed on site after the harvest and matured; bottling is carried out by the family winery Kern.
