Viticulture in Wirmsthal
Viticulture in Wirmsthal is documented as far back as the early eighth century; the first documentary mention of the settlement dates to approximately the year 1303. The Wirmsthal Scheinberg has been described since 1971 as the only vineyard site of Wirmsthal. Documented work and vinification methods by a producer include the use of a flock of sheep in the vineyard and outdoor areas, spontaneous fermentation, as well as a six-month maturation of the white wines on full lees. The red wine matures for nine months on full lees in Spessart oak wood.
