Location
The wine-growing area Paradies corresponds to the official designation Bullenheimer Paradies. It is located in the municipality of Ippesheim in Bavaria, on the Bullenheimer Berg in the region of Franken.
Climate and soils
The vineyard lies in the Maingau climate zone, which locally is counted among the warmer German wine-growing areas. The site, which is oriented to the south-west, has a slope gradient of about 15 to 50 percent. The soils consist of nutrient-rich gypsum keuper.
Vineyard areas and grape varieties
Bullenheimer Paradies comprises about 65 hectares. The Bullenheim vineyards were re-parcelled between 1971 and 1975. Documented main grape varieties include Müller-Thurgau and Silvaner.
Classification and wine style
Since the 1970s, the site has been marketed under the name Bullenheimer Paradies. In the official classification of vineyard sites, it belongs to the area Weinparadies and to the Großlage Frankenberger Schloßstück. Wines from the gypsum keuper sites in the region are associated with a full-bodied, extract-rich profile and mineral notes.
