Location and History
The Dittwarer Ölkuchen is located in Dittwar, a district of Tauberbischofsheim, in the Muckbachtal valley. As part of a land consolidation process, in 1977 a new vineyard area of 12 hectares was created in the Gewann Ölkuchen. With this, winegrowing in Dittwar once again took on a defining role.
Grape Varieties
In the vineyards, Schwarzriesling, Dornfelder, Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Weißburgunder and Silvaner are documented. For the Dittwarer Ölkuchen, Schwarzriesling, Dornfelder, Grauburgunder, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus and Silvaner are particularly confirmed.
Wines and Cultivation
The vineyard is especially associated with Schwarzriesling. Documented are dry Schwarzriesling and Silvaner, dry and gently off-dry Grauburgunder, as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Scheurebe, Rosé and Rotling. The grapes are hand-harvested; only healthy, fully ripe grapes are processed. Wines carry the origin designation Dittwarer Ölkuchen – Baden and the category German Quality Wine (Deutscher Qualitätswein).
