Location and categorisation
Hofberg is a legally defined single vineyard site in the Kocher-Jagst-Tauber area of the wine-growing region Württemberg. The sections belonging to the vineyard are located, among other places, near Neudenau, Möckmühl and Widdern.
Wine-law classification
Hofberg is assigned to the Großlage Kocherberg and is managed within the Württemberg wine designation regulations.
Terraces and history
The Hofberg near Möckmühl is documented as a terraced steep slope with dry-stone retaining walls. Historical vineyard terraces and dry-stone walls were affected by decay, possible abandonment and the collapse of walls. The place name Hofberg is also recorded on a cadastral map from 1834 for Möckmühl and Ruchsen.
