Hildegardisberg

Location and Classification

Hildegardisberg is a single vineyard site in the cadastral district of Bermersheim of the municipality Bermersheim vor der Höhe in the sub-region of Bingen within the wine-growing region Rheinhessen. Under wine law, the single vineyard site belongs to the Großlage of Adelberg. The vineyard area register 2024 lists a planted area of 29.2 hectares.

Soils

The site comprises marl-pararendzina from calcareous loams and sands from tertiary marine deposits, as well as loess-pararendzina from ice-age-deposited calcareous dust. The marl soils are deep, calcareous and rich in clay; they have a high nutrient and lime content and exhibit limited water permeability as well as limited aeration. The loess soils consist of fertile, deep loam with clayey silt, good water retention, sufficient aeration, lime and good rooting depth.

Grape Varieties and Wine Style

For Hildegardisberg, the grape varieties Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder and Chardonnay are named. The marl-pararendzina is associated with dense, full-bodied and expressive wines with balanced acidity. On loess-pararendzina, fruit-forward, refreshing wines are produced with moderate structure.
