Location and landscape
Bermersheim vor der Höhe is a municipality in the Alzey-Worms district in Rhineland-Palatinate and lies in the wine-growing region Rheinhessen. The municipality is located on the edge of the Rheinhessen Switzerland in a hilly landscape. Agriculture and winegrowing shape the municipal area.
Historical reference
A gift of vineyards with reference to Bermersheim is documented for the year 775. In addition, there were connections to Lorsch Abbey, including property there and a grant of land dating from 778. The Bermersheimer Hildegardisberg refers with its name to Hildegard of Bingen, who was presumably born in Bermersheim in 1098.
Vineyard sites and soils
The Bermersheimer Hildegardisberg covers 29 hectares, lies at an elevation of 170 to 230 metres, and is oriented from north-east to south-east. Marl soils produce dense, full-bodied wines with balanced acidity, while loess soils produce delicate, refreshing wines with moderate structure. For the site, White Burgundy (Weißburgunder), Grey Burgundy (Grauburgunder) and Chardonnay are named.
The Bermersheimer Klosterberg is listed in the wine-growing sites database as an individual site called Klosterberg and is listed there under the name Bermersheimer Klostergarten. The 56-hectare site lies at an elevation of 200 to 240 metres and extends in the orientation from west and north to east. Marl-Pelosol soils are associated with dense, full-bodied wines with moderate acidity, while limestone Rendzinas are associated with mineral, chalky wines with balanced acidity.

The vineyard areas of Bermersheim vor der Höhe belong to the protected designation of origin Rheinhessen. For this designation of origin, the maximum allowable yield is 105 hectolitres per hectare.
