Location and classification
Prappacher Henneberg is a single vineyard in Prappach, a district of Haßfurt in the Franconian wine region. The documented area comprises 1.17 hectares. The site is classified as part of the Haßbergtrauf and is characterised by Keuper soils. It is managed as a single vineyard, separate from the Großlage Zeiler Kapellenberg.
Grape varieties and wine
With Prappacher Henneberg, Bacchus, Mixed Satz, Grüner Silvaner, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, Blauer Portugieser, Blauer Spätburgunder, Domina and Regent are associated. A documented Silvaner from the site is a dry white wine with a light, fresh and fruity expression, as well as balanced sweetness and acidity.
Historical name
The name of the wine site is attributed to the former owners, the Counts of Henneberg. Winegrowing in Prappach has been documented since 1151. For the year 1366, the name Henneberg is listed among the locally known wine sites; the Würzburg Salbuch of 1545 recorded 29 wine sites in Prappach.
