Location and Soil
Edelberg is the town’s vineyard area and the single-vineyard site of the same name of Tauberbischofsheim. The wine site lies on Würzburger Straße and is planted on shell limestone.
Vineyard Area and Farming
The town-owned vineyard Edelberg covers around 8.5 hectares. Since 2021, it has been converted to organic winegrowing. Cultivated varieties include, among others, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Schwarzriesling.
History and Wine Educational Trail
According to a town report, the vines at Edelberg were replanted at around 1935 after there had already been a local tradition of viticulture. A wine educational trail conveys knowledge about seasonal work in the vineyard, grape varieties, the harvest, as well as plants and animals.
