Location and geography
Dabug, also known as Randersacker Dabug or Lindelbacher Dabug, is a vineyard area west of Lindelbach on the cadastral areas of Randersacker and Lindelbach. It lies between Lützelsgrund and Lindelbach, to the south-east of the Randersacker Sonnenstuhls and to the north of the local road connecting WÜ 1. A small woodland interrupts the vineyard area at one point.
Soil and viticulture
The steep slope falls to the south. Dabug lies in the geological formation of the Upper Muschelkalk and has relatively deep, clay-containing soils. The section in Randersacker covers about 12 hectares and was rationalised and replanned in 1965. The Lindelbacher section is about 17.5 hectares and was rationalised and replanted between 1979 and 1980.
Varieties and wine style
Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Silvaner, Scheurebe and Riesling are documented for Dabug. The area is mainly designated for the production of white wine.
History and vineyard register
Viticulture in the cadastral area of Lindelbach has been documented since 1155. The Cistercian monastery of Altenberg already owned vineyards there in 1140; at that time the site was referred to as Thaebog. Historical sub-designations in the Lindelbacher section were Bäckert, Hautenstein, Röthe, Dennert, Kreuzweinberg, Kaffert and Mannslehen. In the Bavarian vineyard register, Dabug is recorded for the Franconian wine-growing region with entries for Randersacker and Lindelbach in the MainSüden area.
