Location and area
Bischofsleite is an officially listed single vineyard site in the district of Wetterzeube in the wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut. The designated vineyard area as of 31 December 2024 totalled 3.6438 hectares.
History and cultivation
In 2000, a four-hectare area in Wetterzeuber Bischofsleite was newly planted. The winery Seeliger is documented as the cultivator of the site.
Varieties and wines
From Bischofsleite, Riesling, Silvaner and Kerner are bottled as dry white wines of the quality wine category Deutscher Qualitätswein. Also documented are a semi-dry Traminer as Deutscher Prädikatswein Spätlese, a semi-dry Portugieser Rosé as Deutscher Qualitätswein, and a dry Blauer Zweigelt as Deutscher Qualitätswein.
Vinification
The winery Seeliger vinifies the grapes by variety and origin from the site. The wines are typically made dry for the Saale-Unstrut region.
