Location and Terroir
Château Le Pin is located in the heart of the plateau of Pomerol in Bordeaux, France. The seven plots of the vineyard cover around two hectares. The soils consist of gravelly clay as well as sandy gravel and show traces of iron, or a high proportion of iron oxide.
Grape Variety and Appellation
The vineyard is planted 100% with Merlot. The wine is produced under the appellation Pomerol AOC and produced in very limited quantities.
History and Maturation
The estate Le Pin has been owned by Jacques Thienpont since 1979. Vinification takes place in small stainless-steel containers; afterwards, the wine matures for 18 months in new barrels.
