History and Headquarters
Champagne Gosset was founded in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, a magistrate and winemaker, in Aÿ. The family tradition continues through sixteen direct generations. At first the house produced still wines from Aÿ before it developed the production of Champagne.
Domaine in Épernay
The Champagne Gosset domaine is located in Épernay. There, the house acquired in 2009 a historic estate with an area of two hectares. The wines are listed under the Champagne appellation and come from France.
Style and Cellar
The house style preserves freshness, fruit character and a mineral structure. The wines are produced without malolactic fermentation, which allows the natural malic acid to be retained. Their ageing on the lees lasts on average four years; the Grande Réserve and the Grand Blanc de Blancs each spend at least four years in the cellars.
Selected Cuvées
The Gosset Grande Réserve is made mainly from Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay and Meunier. The Chardonnay contributes to freshness and a mineral finish. The Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs is produced 100 per cent from Chardonnay, which comes from chalk-rich Crus in the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne. Celebris is created only in selected vintages and is matured over a longer time in the cellar; the 2012 vintage was stored for at least ten years.
