Location and History
Champagne André Clouet is located at 8 rue Gambetta in the French Bouzy. The family estate and its cellars are rooted in Bouzy. The history of the winery dates back to 1741; the estate remained in family ownership through successive generations. According to the winery, the family cellars stand for around 250 years of history.
Vineyards and Grape Varieties
Le Clos is an established, old-vine vineyard site in Bouzy, enclosed by thick walls. For the Pinot Noir of Le Clos, this grape variety is designated. Silver Brut Nature is also based on Pinot Noir, while Chalky is listed as a Chardonnay cuvée. For Chalky, the winery describes the chalky soil as shaping the terroir of the Champagne: it drains away excess water while at the same time holding water back for the vines.
Cuvées and Maturation
The range includes AOC Champagne cuvées such as Grande Réserve, Silver Brut Nature, Rosé n°3 and Chalky. This includes both rosé Champagne and Silver Brut Nature matured without dosage. Grande Réserve and Silver Brut Nature mature for 36 months on the lees; their reserve wines are stored for two to five years, with maturation taking place in tanks and barrels. Chalky remains on the lees for 72 months.
Coteaux champenois
Versailles Diamant is designated as AOC Coteaux champenois and matures for two years in French oak barrels.
