Location and history
Wolfsaugen is a vineyard area referred to as a Gewann in Brackenheim. The single site is publicly known as “Brackenheimer Wolfsaugen” and has already been documented on a historical cadastral map from 1835. A historical survey recorded a signal point there at about 255.8 metres above sea level.
Soil and viticulture
For the subsoil of Wolfsaugen, clay over geological material “Kα”, as well as Gipskeuper soils mentioned in connection with the site, are documented. In this context, sunny slope locations are also mentioned. For vineyards to which Brackenheimer Wolfsaugen belongs, reduced vine training, grassing, intensive humus care and a minimised plant protection programme are described.
Wines
From Wolfsaugen, Riesling is documented in the designation Brackenheimer Wolfsaugen. This includes a dry Riesling Kabinett and a Riesling Eiswein.
