Location and designations
Wildenberg is a documented vineyard site in Württemberg winegrowing. The site is located in the Grantschen district of Weinsberg and is also connected with Ellhofen. Historically, the name Grantschener Wildenberg has been handed down; later, Ellhofener Wildenberg and Weinsberger Wildenberg were also used.
Designation by harvest year
Up to and including the harvest year 2025, the name Grantschener Wildenberg may be used if the applicable designation requirements are met. From the harvest year 2026, Ellhofener Wildenberg applies if at least 85 percent of the wine comes from Ellhofen. For wines from the Weinsberg local districts, the designation Weinsberger Wildenberg is then provided.
Grape varieties and wine styles
Documented wines bearing the Wildenberg site name include Riesling, Lemberger, Kerner, as well as a cuvée of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. Lemberger is also used for Weißherbst. Documented quality wines are available in dry, not dry, rosé and Weißherbst styles. A documented Wildenberg Chardonnay with Pinot Blanc has been matured in barriques.
