Location and classification
Steingrüble is near Endingen and is listed by the town as a vineyard site. In the vineyards register of the Kaiserstuhl, the site is recorded as an officially designated single vineyard in the wine-growing region Baden under number 1338.
Soils and topography
Steingrüble includes documented terraced vineyard plots. The subsoil consists of mineral-rich volcanic weathering rock, which is covered by a thin layer of loess. The volcanic weathering rock is documented as a heat store for the vineyards.
Grape variety and viticulture
The most important documented grape variety for the site is Spätburgunder. For a documented Steingrüble selection, grapes were used from vines that were older than 30 years and harvested with reduced yields.
Documented wine
A documented bottling from Steingrüble is a dry Spätburgunder red wine as a German Qualitätswein. The selection was fermented for 15 days using the classic method on the skins and then matured for 13 months in oak barrels.
