Location and classification
The Sängerhalde is a legally defined single vineyard site in the Baden growing region and in the Bodensee (Lake Constance) area. It extends across the municipalities of Markdorf, Meersburg and Stetten, and thus refers to a vineyard site that spans multiple municipalities.
Climate and soils
The Meersburg part of the Sängerhalde is assigned to the mild, pre-alpine maritime climate of the Lake Constance region. The soils associated with the Sängerhalde vineyards of the Meersburg winegrowers’ association consist of glacial moraine gravel, sandy loam and calcareous material.
Grape varieties and wine styles
For the Sängerhalde, wines made from Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Spätburgunder are documented. Müller-Thurgau is offered both as a dry Meersburger Sängerhalde and as a delicately fruity Stettener Sängerhalde. Meersburger Sängerhalde made from Spätburgunder is available as a red wine and as Weißherbst, a rosé-like wine made from Spätburgunder.
