Location and Classification
Rotenberg is an officially registered single-vineyard site in the wine-growing region Nahe, entered in the vineyard register under number 51 11 21. The site extends across the municipal areas of Duchroth and Oberhausen an der Nahe.
Oberhäuser Part
The Oberhäuser Rotenberg is described as a steep vineyard site. The soils there consist of light grey, calcareous slate; in addition, calcareous slate marl is also mentioned.
Varieties and Production
For wines labelled Oberhäuser Rotenberg, Riesling and Gewürztraminer are documented. One wine is designated as a German quality level Prädikatswein at the Spätlese level from Riesling and Gewürztraminer. For a Riesling from the 2023 vintage, part was cloudy and fermented spontaneously, while the other part was clarified and fermented with pure-culture yeast. Maturation took place in a stainless-steel tank.
