Römerberg

Location and classification

The Römerberg is a legally recognised single-vineyard site in the Nahe wine-growing region and is registered under the vineyard roll number 51 03 04. Spanning several municipalities, the site is associated with Bingerbrück, a district of Bingen am Rhein, as well as Weiler bei Bingen.

Climate and soils

The proximity to Nahe and the Rhine shapes the documented microclimate of the Bingerbrück Römerberg. The soils are described as heat-retaining and include sandy loam, loess and quartzite.

Grape variety and vinification

The site is almost exclusively owned by the Pieroth winery. White Burgundy is documented for the Bingerbrück Römerberg; a 2023 quality wine shows ripe fruit and floral notes, a creamy texture, balanced structure and mineral accents. The wine matured for ten months on fine lees, partly in traditional barrels and partly in stainless-steel tanks.
