Riedersbückele

Location

Riedersbückele is a single vineyard site on the municipal territory of Lauffen am Neckar in Württemberg. Lauffen am Neckar is described as Württemberg’s largest municipality with steep-slope vineyards. The vineyards include terraced steep slopes along the Neckar.

Soil and wine profile

A wine designated as Lauffener Riedersbückele Sauvignon blanc is assigned to a site with shell limestone soil. From the site, among other things, wines made from Schwarzriesling, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Samtrot and Acolon, as well as a red wine cuvée of Spätburgunder and Merlot, are documented.

Winemaking

The production of Schwarzriesling as Blanc de Noirs and the ageing of Chardonnay in barrique are documented. A red wine derived from Cabernet, from the site, was also aged in barrique.

Single-vineyard status under wine law

Riedersbückele is entered in the Baden-Württemberg winegrowing cadastre as a single vineyard site. The boundary to the single-vineyard site Katzenbeißer on the Lauffen cadastral district was officially changed with effect from 14 August 2007; a further partial boundary change was made public in 2010.
