Location and landscape
Predigtstuhl is an old vineyard site of Dorfprozelten on the slopes above the Main valley. The vineyard area is situated on a hillside; the municipal vineyard path has a height difference of around 100 metres and offers views over the Main valley.
Soil and viticulture
As the geological parent rock, red Buntsandstein is documented. Historic vineyard terraces and dry-stone walls shape the vineyard area and its immediate surroundings.
History and classification
Viticulture in Dorfprozelten was revived around 1940. Subsequently, under the direction of the Hofkellerei Würzburg, an approximately twelve-hectare vineyard was established at Predigtstuhl. A municipal vineyard tour documents there Spätburgunder, Frühburgunder, St. Laurent, Domina, Dornfelder, Müller-Thurgau and Bacchus; it also records a Bacchus Auslese harvested in late autumn 2002.
In the Bavarian vineyard sites directory, Predigtstuhl is listed as the name of the vineyard site of Dorfprozelten in the designated growing area Franconia and in the Churfranken region. The site is not assigned to any Großlage.
