Location and classification
The Stedtener Pastorenstieg is an officially registered single-vineyard site in the Stedten district of the Seegebiet Mansfelder Land in the wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut. The site is without large-vineyard areas and, according to the vineyard register as at 31 December 2024, comprises a planted area of 2.0000 hectares.
Origin and site
The vineyard was established in 2004 on a former spoil heap. The Stedtener Pastorenstieg is documented as a recultivated colliery spoil site. A portion that was scientifically investigated had already been laid out in the summer of 2001 and was farmed in accordance with principles of ecologically oriented, integrated viticulture.
Climate and vines
The Mansfelder Seen area lies in the lee of the Harz. It has around 428 millimetres of annual rainfall and a mean annual temperature of 8.6 °C. Rare late spring frosts and the moderating influence of the lakes shape the climatic conditions. On the scientifically documented area, Silvaner was planted with about 4,000 vines per hectare.
Wine
Wines from the Stedtener Pastorenstieg are bottled as single-vineyard wines and for the most part belong to the category of German Prädikat wines.
