Location
Luginsland is a documented single vineyard in Aichelberg, a district of Aichwald, in the Württemberg wine-growing region. The vineyards belong to the Wartbühl grand cru and are located on the Vorderen Schurwald between the Rems and the Neckar valleys.
Topography and climate
The vineyards of Aichelberg are situated on south-facing slopes towards the Remstal. With altitudes of up to around 420 metres, Luginsland is among the higher vineyard sites in the region. Aichelberg is considered to be climatically favoured; the conditions support viticulture on the slopes above the Baacher valley.
Soils
The geological surroundings are characterised by Keuper strata and formations of the Lower Jurassic. These include sandstone and marl layers of the Keuper, as well as sandstone formations of the Lower Jurassic.
Viticulture and history
On the south-facing slopes of Aichelberg, around 13 hectares of vines are cultivated. Viticulture in Aichelberg has been documented for at least since 1558, when a press (winery) was mentioned there. The name Luginsland is recorded as the single-vineyard name in the Württemberg wine-growing region and within the Wartbühl grand cru.
