On sand/Regosol, early on accessible, vibrant, fruit-focused, slender and elegant wines are produced, with fresh acidity and aromas of green apple, citrus fruits and grapefruit. For the Neu-Bamberg site area, Riesling is listed as the classified grape variety; in Kletterberg, Chardonnay and other Pinot varieties are also grown.
History and wine law
The Kletterberg has been documented since 1521 under the name an dem Klettenberg. The name refers to the historical growth of strongly growing cleavers or bedstraw plants. In the wine-growing sites directory of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the single vineyard site is recorded under the wine-growing site code 710533. The VDP also lists a 1.80-hectare Neu-Bamberg area as VDP.AUS ERSTEN LAGEN; in Rheinhessen, for wine-law reasons, the designation of the single-vineyard site for wines in this category may not be used on the label.
