Location and History
The Kirchberg is a hill covered with vines in Kirchhofen, a district of Ehrenkirchen, between Bellenhöhe and Batzenberg. The hill lies at about 256 metres above sea level. In the historical symbolism of Kirchhofen, the Kirchberg stands alongside Batzenberg and Ölberg for the local vineyard sites.
Soil and Cultivation
A documented Kirchhofen Kirchberg parcel shows a south-west exposure as well as loam and loess soils over Jurassic limestone. A vineyard site described there is farmed with reduced yields.
Pinot Blanc
Pinot Blanc is documented from the Kirchhofen Kirchberg. A wine from the 2024 vintage is a gently off-dry Spätlese with 12.0 % alcohol, 22 g/l residual sugar and 6.5 g/l acidity. The maturation took place at Weingut Herbster in a stainless-steel tank.
