Location and classification
Kaiserberg is a single vineyard in Göcklingen in the Pfalz. It belongs to the Großlage Herrlich in the area of the Südliche Weinstraße.
Climate and soils
For Kaiserberg, more than 1,600 hours of sunshine are reported annually. The documented soils include loamy soils with limestone and calcareous marl. In connection with the site, red sandstone is also mentioned.
Grape varieties and wines
With the Göcklinger Kaiserberg, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Grauburgunder, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder and Cabernet Sauvignon are associated. Documented are dry white wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Grauburgunder, as well as dry Spätburgunder.
Vinification and cultivation
For a Sauvignon Blanc from the 2024 vintage, a selective hand harvest in several passes with a yield of around 30 hectolitres per hectare is documented. The wine matured for ten months in French barriques. A Grauburgunder from the 2025 vintage was aged in stainless steel.
