Location and classification
Honigberg is a legally registered single vineyard (Einzellage) in the cadastral district of Bubenheim in Rheinhessen. It belongs to the area of Bingen and the Großlage Kaiserpfalz.
Topography and area
The vineyard lies at an altitude of between 140 and 220 metres and is oriented to the east. The vineyard register 2024 lists 98.9 hectares of planted vineyard area.
Soils
Documented are loess-pararendzina and limestone-pararendzina. The loess-pararendzina is calcareous, deep and fertile, stores a great deal of plant-available water and is easy to root into. The limestone-pararendzina consists of shallow to medium-depth, very calcareous, stony sandy loam from tertiary marine deposits in connection with a calcareous reef of algae.

On loess-pararendzina, descriptions include yellow-fruited notes as well as apple, peach, pear and citrus, moderate acidity, medium structure and a style that is immediately accessible. The wines from limestone-pararendzina show citrus, apple, gooseberry, mango and passion fruit, as well as balanced acidity, mineral and chalky characteristics, and clear potential for development.
