Location and context
Honigberg is documented in the wine region Nahe near Kreuznach. The Im Honigberg plot is located on the Bosenberg in Bad Kreuznach-Bosenheim.
Historical context
The modern-day Kreuznacher paradise used to be split between Kreuznacher Honigberg and Kreuznacher Hirtenhain.
Site and vines
Im Honigberg is in an upper, exposed part of the paradise at an altitude of 205 to 220 metres and is orientated towards the south-west. The site is cooler and windier than the lower parts of the paradise. The relatively poor soil contains plates of shell limestone.
The roughly 0.3-hectare plot is planted with vines about 30 years old, whose roots reach into the shell limestone. Riesling is documented as the grape variety.
Wine character
The Riesling from Im Honigberg is described as having fresh acidity, a rich and juicy palate, and herb and spice notes. Notes of exotic fruit and a vanilla note are also present.
