Name and soil
The name refers to a high hill or high mountain. The soil type documented is loess-pararendzina, an aeolian sediment of calcareous dust from the Ice Ages. The soil is described as fertile, deep, light loam with clayey silt. It is calcareous, well aerated and easy to root through, and has a high storage capacity for plant-available soil water.
Style

Documented wine
From the Weinolsheimer Hohberg, vintage 2013 of the grape variety Ortega is documented as an edelsüße Trockenbeerenauslese from Manz winery. The wine had 201 degrees Oechsle, 303.2 grams per litre residual sugar and 6.0% by volume alcohol, and was matured in stainless steel tanks.
