Location and landscape
The Höllberg is a named wine-growing site in Baden. It is associated locally with Hügelheim, a district of Müllheim, as well as with Buggingen, and is known locally as the Hügelheimer Höllberg. The vineyard site lies in the wine-growing landscape around Hügelheim.
Climate and soils
The wine-growing region around Hügelheim has a very mild climate. Gentle winds bring Mediterranean air through the Burgundy Gate. The frequently steep slopes of the Höllberg are oriented to the south and south-west. The soils consist mainly of loess and loess loam.
Grape varieties and wines
Under the name Höllberg, Spätburgunder as well as a cuvée made from Chardonnay and Weißburgunder are documented. In addition, Gutedel is selectively hand-picked from the Höllberg.
Maturation
The Höllberg Spätburgunder is a dry red wine of the Qualitätswein b.A. quality category, with notes of dark fruit and spices. The documented cuvée of Chardonnay and Weißburgunder is a dry white wine with fruit-forward aromas, fresh acidity and a restrained note of wood. The Spätburgunder aged for 20 months in barrique casks.
