Location and Classification
Höll is a vineyard site in the district of Eller within the municipality of Ediger-Eller in the wine-growing region of Mosel. It is registered as a single vineyard under vineyard number 440223 in the cadastre area of Eller and, according to the 2024 register, comprises a planted area of 1.1 hectares.
Steep Slope and Slate
The vineyard plots are cultivated as a steep-slope vineyard. A local producer describes the Ellerer Höll as his steepest vineyard site. The subsoil is described as Devonian slate, whose iron oxides give it a reddish colouring, referred to as red slate (Rotschiefer).
Cultivation and Grape Varieties
Documented cultivation includes hand work in connection with steep-slope viticulture. From Höll, Riesling is evidenced; a producer from Ediger-Eller states that he plants his Höll vineyards exclusively with Riesling. In addition, red Riesling from the Ellerer Höll is also documented.
Documented Wine Styles
The wines from the Ellerer Höll include medium-dry (fine-bodied) Riesling and dry red Riesling. A 2025 red Riesling from this site was matured in a stainless-steel tank.
