Location and classification
Herzogenberg is a vineyard site designated by the VDP in Untertürkheim, Stuttgart, in the wine-growing region Württemberg. The classified area covers 12.41 hectares. The VDP lists Herzogenberg as VDP.GROSSE LAGE®; this classification is a VDP classification and is distinct from the legally defined German wine classification system.
Topography and soil
The site faces south-west and lies at 250 to 280 metres above sea level. The slope gradient is 10 to 30 percent. The soil is described as Gipskeuper.
Grape varieties and cultivation
For the classified area, the VDP names Riesling, Lemberger, White Burgundy, Spätburgunder and Grey Burgundy. As a VDP winery that works the Herzogenberg, Weingut Wöhrwag is designated.
