Location and classification
The Herrgottsweg is a vineyard site in the municipality of Albertshofen in the wine-growing region of Franken. The site is assigned to the large-scale site Kitzinger Hofrat in the MainSüden area.
Area and topography
For the year 2019, a vineyard area of 18 hectares has been documented. A municipal representation describes the modern re-establishment of viticulture with about 16 hectares. The Herrgottsweg faces south-west and has a slope of approximately 10 to 15 percent.
Soil and grape varieties
The vineyard is described as having shell limestone and an overburden of river sand. As the most important documented grape varieties, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner and Bacchus apply.
History
A local representation reports of a God’s house vineyard in Albertshofen, which was cultivated until 1807 by day labourers. In 1978, 16 winegrowers planted vines there again; afterwards, wines from the Herrgottsweg site were marketed under the name of the large-scale site Kitzinger Hofrat.
