Heilighäuschen

Location and classification

Heilighäuschen is a legally registered single vineyard in the Groß-Winternheimer cadastral area of Ingelheim am Rhein in the Bingen sub-region of Rheinhessen. It belongs to the Großlage Kaiserpfalz. The vineyard register lists it under code 710306. The vineyard area covers 53.0 hectares.

Topography and soils

The vineyard site lies at approximately 115 to 220 metres above sea level and is oriented to the south-west. Documented soils include loess-pararendzina as well as limestone-rendzina. The loess soils are deep, calcareous and fertile, with good water storage that is available to plants and good rooting depth. The shallow to medium-depth limestone soils are very calcareous and stony, well aerated and warm up well, but they store little water available to plants.

Grape varieties and style

At Heilighäuschen, among others, St. Laurent, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Spätburgunder, Grauer Burgunder, Riesling, Rivaner, Gewürztraminer and Dornfelder are planted. The loess-pararendzina is associated with yellow-fruit aromas as well as notes of apple, peach, pear and citrus, a gentle acidity, medium body and an early-to-access style. On the limestone-rendzina, citrus, apple, gooseberry, mango and passion fruit notes, as well as a balanced acidity and a mineral-chalky, structured style with potential for development, are described.

Name
