Hasensprung

Location

Hasensprung is a vineyard site in Jöhlingen, a district of the municipality of Walzbachtal, in the Kraichgau in the wine-growing region Baden. At around 264 metres above sea level, it is the highest elevation in Jöhlingen.

History and single-vineyard site

The vineyard was planted in 1962 during land consolidation in Jöhlingen. Hasensprung is documented as a single-vineyard site with the place name Jöhlingen and the Kraichgau region.

Grape variety

From the Jöhlingen Hasensprung, Auxerrois is documented as commercially produced wine. Most of the wine was processed at the Weingarten wine manufactory.

Use of the vineyard area

The municipal development regulations designate Hasensprung as a special area for viticulture. For cultivation, sheds for the equipment required as well as observation platforms for protection against damage caused by starlings are permitted.
