Location and wine-growing area
Halde is a single vineyard site in the wine-growing region Württemberg. It is assigned to the places Illingen, Mühlacker and Vaihingen and lies within the Großlage Stromberg in the Württembergisch Unterland area.
Topography and soils
The vineyards include west to south-east facing slopes, which are in part terraced. The gradient of the slopes is around 10 to 70 percent. The starting materials are stated to be predominantly Muschelkalk and Letten.
Steep slopes and grape varieties
The terraced sections are regarded as steep-slope sites. The focus of steep-slope viticulture in the associated area of the Enzschleife lies in the terraced vineyards of Halde. There, Lemberger and Trollinger are grown above all.
Historic vineyard landscape
The historic terraced vineyards in connection with Halde were created between the late 12th century and the beginning of the 14th century. The vineyard landscape was entered into the list of monuments in 1978. Its upkeep includes preserving and restoring vineyard walls made of dry stone masonry.
