Location
Güldenkern is the vineyard site known as Rietenauer Güldenkern in the Rietenau district of Aspach in Württemberg. The vineyards lie on the southern foothills of the Löwenstein hills and feature strong Keuper soils.
Viticulture
Rietenauer Güldenkern is one of four named vineyard sites within the approximately 60 hectares of Aspach vineyards. Viticulture is carried out by about 60 producers mostly as a secondary or hobby business, as well as by additional independent winemaker families. The work is carried out largely by hand throughout the year; the harvest is carried out both mechanically and manually.
Documented wines
From Güldenkern, wines of the grape varieties Kerner, Spätburgunder and Acolon are documented. These include an Acolon Qualitätswein and historically a Kerner Auslese and a dry Spätburgunder Weißherbst Qualitätswein. Documented wines from this site were marketed as Qualitätswein, including Qualitätswein from certain growing areas (QbA) and Auslese.
