Goldberg near Horrweiler
Goldberg is a legally registered single vineyard site in the municipality of Horrweiler. It is located in the St. Rochuskapelle region in the district of Bingen within Rheinhessen.
Location and exposure
The vineyard site covers 111 hectares and is situated at approximately 130 to 163 metres above sea level. Its exposure ranges from west to south-west.
Soil
The documented soil is a marl-pelosol formed from calcareous clay-marl deposits of the Tertiary sea. It is deep, calcareous and rich in clay; it has a high proportion of clay that can swell, as well as limited water availability and poor aeration. Its warming capacity is medium, and its nutrient content is high; for roots, the soil is comparatively difficult to penetrate.

The name Goldberg generally expresses appreciation and usually does not refer to the precious metal gold.
