Location and Landscape
Beutelstein is a legally registered single vineyard in Oberndorf in the German wine-growing region Nahe. The site is located in the Alsenztal valley, where only selected locations are still planted with vines.
Aspect and Soils
The single vineyard lies on a south-facing slope. Its deep, weathered sandstone soils can also ensure an adequate water supply under hot conditions.
Vines and Wines
For Beutelstein, Riesling, Red Traminer and Pinot Blanc are documented. The documented wine styles include Riesling Spätlese, Riesling-Traminer Spätlese feinherb, Riesling Beerenauslese, as well as dry and gently off-dry wines.
Historical Designation
The older local name “Gäseritsch” is still used in Oberndorf for the Beutelstein site. Between the vine rows, planted areas and sandstone walls were observed.
