As part of the Bavarian regional reform, Unterhaid became part of the municipality of Oberhaid in 1978.

The Röthla wine-growing area belongs to the Abt-Degen wine valley and is assigned to the municipality of Oberhaid as well as to the district of Bamberg. Its vineyards are located on south-facing slopes at the western exit of the Bamberg basin and slope down towards the Main. Unterhaider Röthla is registered in the Bavarian vineyard site register.
Grape varieties and vinification
For Unterhaider Röthla, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner and Schwarzriesling are documented. From this, varietal wines as well as rosé wine (Rotling) made from white and red grapes are produced. For local winegrowing, pruning and tying in spring, work on the foliage, breaking out shoots, hoeing and fertilising up to the harvest in September are also documented. The grapes are pressed on the estate, transferred to casks and bottled after several weeks.
