Röllbach

Location and landscape

Röllbach is a municipality in the Spessart and lies in the Main quadrangle of the region Franken. The municipal area is characterised by wooded heights, extensive fields and a branching network of forest paths. At the forest edge, the Röllbach rises. The soils are described as fertile loess soils.

Vine cultivation on the Deutschordensberg

The municipality’s territory includes the vineyard site Deutschordensberg. It belongs to the red Buntsandstein sites of the Main region between Aschaffenburg and Bürgstadt and, in the Bavarian register of wine locations, is assigned to the Churfranken area. In Röllbach, red and white wines are produced there. The red wines are described as dry, fruit-forward and tannin-containing, while the white wines are described as elegant and mineral.

Historical reference

Röllbach has been documented in records since 1182. Historical records also document a wine tithe from Röllbach, which was processed locally and delivered to Klingenberg.
