Location and landscape

Lanitz-Hassel-Tal is a municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district in Saxony-Anhalt and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde An der Finne. It lies on the Finne ridge between Apolda and Naumburg. The Lanitz and Hassel valleys give the place its name; they are connected to the watercourses Lißbach and Hasselbach.

Göttersitz

The area Goettersitz comprises a steep Saale hillside, a plateau, dry grassland, deciduous woodland, and cultivated vineyards. Geologically, it belongs to the Naumburg shell limestone basin and has shell limestone soils with characteristic rock outcrops.

Winegrowing

Winegrowing in the Saale-Unstrut region has been documented since 998. At Göttersitz, winegrowing is continued on the hillside and on the plateau; even in the Middle Ages it was promoted by the monks of Pforta Monastery. The vineyard Schöne Aussicht is listed in the official vineyard directory for Saale-Unstrut under the locality names Bad Kösen and Möllern.

Climate and wine style

Saale-Unstrut has a continental climate with warm, dry summers and cold winters. The growing area receives about 500 millimetres of precipitation per year and records around 1,600 hours of sunshine. Sheltered slopes, mostly oriented to the south, and the warm conditions in the river valleys favour winegrowing. The region is known for delicately full-bodied, fresh wines with clearly defined aromas.
