Goettersitz

Location and size

Goettersitz corresponds to the large-growing area Naumburger Göttersitz in the wine-growing region Saale-Unstrut in Germany. The vineyard directory lists the large-growing area with an area of 114.3229 hectares. It includes, among others, the individual vineyards Pfortenser Köppelberg, Bad Kösener Schöne Aussicht, Saalhäuser, Naumburger Steinmeister and Naumburger Paradies.

Topography and cultivation

The documented vineyard lies on a south-facing steep slope. In the upper section, a small-scale mosaic of shell limestone deposits and shrub vegetation adjoins it. The directly accessible slope enables mechanical tillage between the rows of vines; there, sown grass mixtures are used.

Grape varieties and development

For its vineyards at Naumburger Göttersitz, the winery Gussek Müller-Thurgau names Müller-Thurgau, Burgundy varieties, Riesling and Johanniter. According to the winery’s own information, the company acquired vine-growing areas there in 2007. The elevated and well-aerated location, it says, allows the winery to reduce crop protection to a minimum.
